Meals On Wheels of Tarrant County Continues to Grow

From humble beginnings in 1973 to a benchmark program, Meals On Wheels of Tarrant County now serves approximately 1.7 million meals per year. This organization is an immense source of pride for the citizens of Tarrant County, Texas. Despite their tremendous growth, their commitment to helping the homebound, elderly and disabled residents of Tarrant County to remain in their own homes, will never change.

In addition to food, Meals On Wheels truly helps improve the quality of life of the clients.  Some of their programs include: Home-delivered meals Comprehensive Case Management HAIL (Healthy Aging and Independent Living) Client services: companion pet food, friendly visits from volunteers, supplemental pantry food, mobility assistance (wheelchairs, grab bars, ramps, walkers, etc.), utility bill payment assistance, smoke detectors, heaters/blankets, fans/air conditioners, etc.

Of course, the many volunteers provide the energy and leg work to make this happen.  Click here to read about the impact of helping from the volunteers’ point of view.

Meals On Wheels has expanded their facilities several times over the years. Yet there continues to be a growing need to get more meals to those unable to help themselves allowing them to remain at home in a safe and healthy environment.

If you are looking for a way to support those in need, consider Meals On Wheels with a donation, volunteering or helping in any way you can.  It would be greatly appreciated.
