Sid Richardson Scout Ranch Takes Scouting to a New Level

For over 50 years, the Sid Richardson Scout Ranch and the BSA Longhorn Council  have remained focused upon teaching the core BSA values – building character, creating responsible citizens, and personal fitness.  Building upon that foundation, they have added some very creative and dynamic programs.

Located on 2,500 historic acres of dense forest, scenic cliffs, and prairie, the activities include traditional scouting, high adventure programs, and living history programs.  The camp also offers numerous aquatic activities taking advantage of their location on Lake Bridgewater.  More recently, they have embraced new hands-on programs taking the scouting experience to a whole new level.

Scouts can now learn blacksmithing skills – forging red hot metal in the metalworking program.  And, in the advanced class, they learn the lost art of Bladesmithing.  Forged in Fire!  Scouts can also choose to experience the F-16 Flight Simulator as well as the many other year round activities.

We are grateful that the Sid Richardson Ranch, the BSA Longhorn Council, and the volunteers continue to support and build character, responsibility, and teamwork in our youth.
